Bio
Ioannis Polychronopoulos is a multimedia artist with focus on audio-visuals and painting. His research primarily focus on new media technologies, and mainly at the field of audio-visual and video art. It is directed towards creating visual works through the possibilities that combine digital technology with the creation of painting forms. (such as musical composition of sound, 3D visuals, video installation, painting, fabrics or other material forms etc.). In particular, exploring the possibilities of integrating traditional art forms into digital environments and the reverse. He made efforts to produce works aimed at activating the observer's personal associations with "images" "sound" and "emotions" through enhanced processes using contemporary technological methods. Since artworks are based on visual communication between the artist and the observer, it is not only needed to adapt to new conditions but at the same time they immerse into the symbols of myth and archetypal figures that are related to interpretations and theories from psychology and psychoanalysis. Such processes aim to visualize works that occur in the realm of 'preconsciousness,' that is, the situations that happen at the threshold between the conscious and the unconscious. In this "imaginary constructed" realm of these works, an environment is created that integrates visualized reformulations of abstract concepts, instincts, the driving forces of behaviour, ambiguous situations, and more. With the assistance of digital technology, environments that are visualized in three dimensions in real space while being composed in two dimensions, yet lacking a material substance. The observers introduced in that dynamic field will be transferred to sensory experiences "located" at the boundary between reality and fantasy to redefine their relationship with their own inner environment.
